In memory of Chris Coffee
On Wednesday 8 January 2025 a serious road accident occurred in the Northern Territory, Australia: Australian MAF pilot Chris Coffee lost his life. Swiss MAF pilot Simon Zingg, travelling as his passenger, was slightly injured.
The two MAF pilots were on their way to work when an oncoming vehicle left the road and hit their car head-on. All three occupants of the other car also lost their lives. After some examinations, Simon Zingg was able to leave hospital again after a short time. “We are extremely grateful that Simon is doing well, given the circumstances,” says Thomas Beyeler, CEO of MAF Switzerland.
The Zingg family and the whole MAF team in Arnhem Land are mourning their friend, colleague and neighbour. Chris Coffee leaves behind his wife and three young children. Dave Fyock, CEO of MAF International, pays tribute to Chris’ enthusiasm for serving others: “Chris had a heart for the people of Arnhem Land. He loved combining his passion as a pilot with the desire to bring help, hope and healing to some of the most remote communities in Australia.”
The bereaved, the Arnhem Land team and the Zingg family are being closely supported through this challenging time. Thomas Beyeler expresses his gratitude: “We are deeply grateful to everyone who is accompanying those affected by the accident and their families with their thoughts and prayers.”
