Funding

How are we funded?

MAF is funded mainly by donations – from private individuals, but increasingly also from institutional donors such as foundations, companies and the public sector. About a third of our income comes from contributions on the ground from partner organisations, which share the cost of flights at reduced rates.

Donations from private individuals

Most of our work is made possible by people who believe in our mission. Whether a one-off gift, regular giving or a legacy: every contribution helps us finance flights that save lives and free people from isolation.

Institutional donors

Foundations, companies, parishes and the public sector increasingly support MAF with targeted funding. Since 2025 the SDC has also been co-financing our programme in four countries. These partnerships give us planning certainty.

Income on the ground

Partner organisations such as aid agencies and NGOs that use our flights share the cost at reduced rates. These contributions make up about a third of our income and ensure our fleet stays permanently ready to fly.
