Handover of leadership at MAF Switzerland

On 24 October 2026, Thomas Beyeler handed over the role of CEO of MAF Switzerland to Mark Roth. More than 120 guests gathered at Bern-Belp Airport to bid farewell to Thomas Beyeler and welcome the new CEO.

It wouldhave been hard to find a more fitting setting. Where passengers usually wait for their flights, friends, partners and long-time companions of MAF Switzerland came together that afternoon. Many former staff members also attended. For a lot of them, it was a reunion after quite some time.

“We are delighted that so many familiar faces are here today,” said Petra Ming, Head of Engagement at MAF Switzerland.

Gratitude to Thomas Beyeler

Thomas Beyeler led MAF Switzerland from 2019 and handed over the leadership at the end of September. His time in office coincided with a period of major change, which he shaped decisively. He made a key contribution to the global integration of MAF. The independent national MAF organisations are currently being brought together step by step into a common structure. Within the team, Thomas was valued not only as a manager but also as a person. The afternoon at Bern-Belp airport offered an opportunity to thank him personally.

Mark Roth takes the helm

Since 1 October, Mark Roth has been the new CEO of MAF Switzerland. He brings many years of experience in aviation. He flew for Emirates as a captain and worked as an instructor, most recently serving as Chief Instructor Airbus at Lufthansa Aviation Training in Zurich. This expertise now benefits an organisation whose work would be unthinkable without safe flight operations.

Behind the scenes

After the official part, MAF Switzerland invited guests to an aperitif. Over food and drinks there was time for conversation and shared memories. Those who wished could also join a guided tour of the airport. Many guests took up the offer and got a glimpse of areas that normally remain hidden from travellers.

MAF Switzerland thanks everyone who celebrated this day with us and looks forward to the future together with Mark Roth.

Mary's fight against human trafficking and child marriage

When one of MAF's partner organisations founded a school in northeastern Uganda, education was the focus. That the school would also become a place of refuge for girls only became apparent over time.
