Change of CEO at MAF International in Switzerland

Thomas Beyeler was appointed CEO of MAF Switzerland in 2019. Since then he has shaped the organisation with great dedication, a down-to-earth manner and values-led leadership. Under his direction, MAF in Switzerland further built its credibility in the Swiss NGO landscape, deepened strategic partnerships and strengthened its operational professionalism. The board thanks him warmly for his committed service: "Even though we will miss Thomas greatly, we deeply value his many years of service to MAF Switzerland and to MAF's work worldwide. There will be an official tribute in due course," says board president Timothée Chapuis.

The ideal moment for a change of leadership

With the board's support, Thomas Beyeler has made a decisive contribution to MAF's global integration. The previously independent national MAF organisations are being brought together step by step into a shared structure under the umbrella of MAF International. With the agility and efficiency this brings, the organisation aims in future to reach even more people in need who are cut off from the world and so from vital goods and services. "I am convinced the timing of this leadership change could not be better. It means Mark can actively shape this new, slightly altered role from the outset, in the new integrated environment," explains Thomas Beyeler.

Mark Roth: an experienced leader with aviation and leadership expertise

Mark Roth brings extensive experience in leadership, aviation and networking. After spells at several Swiss airlines, he spent almost two decades at Emirates Airline in Dubai, where he worked as a captain, instructor and type rating examiner on long-haul aircraft. Two years as Chief Medical Officer at the Biel/Bienne hospital centre followed. He currently works as Chief Instructor Airbus at Lufthansa Aviation Training in Zurich.

Bryce Wagner, Chief Growth Officer of MAF International, welcomes the appointment: "Mark brings the rare ability to connect people, purpose and mission. He will be a valuable asset." Mark Roth also comments on his new role: "I am deeply grateful for the trust placed in me by the board in Switzerland and by MAF's International Executive Leadership Team, and for the opportunity to serve this extraordinary organisation." He knows from his own experience how aviation can become a powerful instrument for help, hope and healing. He has already flown with MAF in several countries himself. "I look forward to joining the team, building on the strong foundations already in place and contributing to the next chapter of MAF International in Switzerland and worldwide."
